We are a couple in our mid-thirties exploring a new way of living and working. Our adventure began as we left our urban professional lifestyles and committed to 3 months of work on a small organic family farm in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. In phase 2, we moved to a small rural rental property, and are gradually building skills in gardening and animal husbandry, while we continue to learn from our farmer neighbors and friends, and seek a meaningful way to make a living. Stay tuned for phase 3…
We are seeking balance between a modern 21st century life and the wisdom of the more agrarian, self-sufficient lifestyle of previous generations. We hope to cultivate more connection with nature, more connection with community, more creative outlets and expression, and better habits in keeping with environmental stewardship and social justice. Most of all, we want to find a way to live that is more rewarding and fulfilling, and less stressful and draining. In this blog we will be exploring:
- Raising animals
- Simple, frugal lifestyles
- Crafts and creativity
- Community and relationships
We’ll try to post something new about our experience once a week. We love comments on our posts to know that we are reaching someone, and suggestions for things you’d like to read more about.
